Kentucky State Parks
Kentucky is a wonderful and very beautiful state. The state is filled with wonderful things to see and do including numerous state parks such as the Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park. This particular park is located on the northern shore of Kentucky Lake in Marshall Country. The park spans an area of one thousand three hundred and fifty one acres. The resort is actually one of Kentucky’s most popular resorts thanks to its excellent accommodations. The park’s AAA rating was upgraded from two diamonds to three diamonds in its 2008 Traveler’s Guide. It is also one of the first parks to be able to achieve a three diamond rating since AAA changes its rating system in 2001.

Anyone who wants to spend their vacation camping will find everything
they’re looking for at the Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park which offers
two hundred and nineteen paved campsites. Each campsite is equipped with water
and electricity hookups. There is also a grocery store nearby where you can
purchase food and other necessities. Three dump stations and four central
service building are also provided. Showers and rest rooms can be found within
the central service buildings. There is also an Air Camp available for aviators
which allows you to camp by your aircraft. This portion of the campground offers
only one central service building.
The park has plenty of things to
do for those who are interesting including an airport. The park also provides
boating, fishing, swimming and hiking trails. Aviators will love the park’s four
thousand foot paved and lighted air strip which is located a mile and a half
from the lodge. Those who want to get out on the water should check out the
Kentucky Dam Marina which offers overnight dockage as well as rental of fishing
boats, pontoon boats and ski boats.
Another of Kentucky’s excellent state
parks is the Levi Jackson Wilderness Road State Park which is located just south
of London, Kentucky in Laurel County. The park itself spans an area of eight
hundred and ninety six acres. Part of the park includes a section of the
Wilderness Road that early settlers traveled to reach Kentucky and the Mountain
Life Museum which is a restored pioneer village. The park is actually named
after an early Kentucky pioneer by the name of Levi Jackson.
